Row 7. Reattach yarn in FPTR from row 4. Continue crochet in FPTR as follows: 1 bullion st in FPTR, 1 hdc in next FPTR. Continue to end of FPTR. Fasten off.

Dragon head

Attach a bead as an eye.

Begin crochet dragon head that will go at the front of ship. Make the dragon head as an independent motif using hairpin crochet technique.

Use the 3rd smallest setting on the heirloom. 19 loops each side with sc in the middle. Remove work from loom. Attach all 19 loops one side with a sc.

On the other side: 2 loops together with sc, ch 2, 2 loops together with sc, ch 4, 3 loops together with sc, crochet down 3 loops with 3 sc + 3-ch picot + 4 sc, ch 3, 5 loops together, crochet up 5 loops with 6 sc, 4-ch picot, sl st in same 5 loops together, ch 7, 3 loops together with sc, ch 4, 2 loops together with sc, ch 4, 2 loops together with sc. Crochet up loops with 24 hdc. You are now back at your 3-ch picot. This is where you will begin to crochet Dragon beak. Fasten off. There are 2 other 3-ch picot. Stitch them together using a sewing needle. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Attach dragon head to boat and begin crochet beak.

In the opening behind the beak, stitch a few strings up and down to give the impression of an eye. I also attached a bead there to add to the impression of an eye. :)

Crochet stern.

Begin crochet flag pole. Ch 41, turn, *1 bullion st in 3rd ch from hook, sl st in next st*, rep to end, end with hdc in last st.

Attach loop on heirloom, and crochet 14 loops each side with sc in the middle. Use the 3rd smallest setting.

Hairpin Motif

crochet hairpin motif hairpin crochet motif

I made this Hairpin motif with the thought of making a freeform hairpin tunic. I thought I’d publish the individual motifs as I progress on my Tunic. I hope you enjoy this pattern.

Yarn: Fiddlesticks Knitting Yarn Mosaico in Multicolored Black + Silver

Crochet hook size 3.00 mm

Hairpin Motif Crochet Instructions

crochet hairpin motif hairpin crochet motif

This hairpin pattern is easy in skill level. If you haven’t done Hairpin Crochet before, you can learn it here.

Use a heirloom on largest settings.

Attach with a slip stitch and have the loop in the middle. Secure with a single crochet stitch on each loop after you flip the heirloom over. Keep making loops on each side until you have 21 loops that are secured with a single crochet stitch.

Free the work from loom. On one side, attach 7 loops with sl st, (ch 3, 1 sc in next loop) x 7, attach 7 loops with sl st.

On the other side, skip 4 loops and attach 13 loops with sl st. Attach the 4 loops on each side of the 13 loops together with a sl st. Fasten off, but don’t weave in the ends.

Instead of weaving in the end, you can leave them dangling down the sides. If you like you can use a smaller crochet hook and move the loose yarn bits to where you want them.

Crochet Mermaid Doll Amigurumi Pattern

I hope you enjoyed this cute Mermaid. Once you have finished crochet the tail, body, head, and arms, you can then stitch on the ‘bikini’. I used sewing thread. I also used sewing thread to stitch on a little mouth. Eyes were created by stitching on eyelids over brown felt. I stitched a little nose on by stitching back and forth in the middle of the face. For ears, I simply stitched on a looop of yarn each side.

Hair. 4 ply light blue yarn is used, however, the threads are separated which creates a curly look. Stitch on top of the head using a sewing needle. Stitch on the same way you would stitch on tassels.

Crochet Camel Pattern Instruction

Set the heirloom on 3rd smallest settings.

Step 1. Crochet 2 loops each side with dc in the middle.

Step 4. Repeat step 3, except DO NOT ch 6, INSTEAD sk ch 6 + ttr, 1 dc around dtr. Turn.

Step 5. Make 2 loops each side. Attach 1st loop by inserting hook into tr with a dc.

Repeat process 1-5 until you have 14 motifs each side. Remove work from the loom. Insert hook through 10 loops, pull together and create a circle. Use a sewing needle and fold remaining 3 motifs in half sideways and inwards. Fold the top motif to the sideway but outwards. Secure them with a stitch. Stitch the first folded motif to the first motif on the circle using a sewing needle. This will create the appearance of the neck of the camel.

Loops outer circle: Attach the 1 motif closest to the neck and the 1 motif closest to the circle through their loops wit a sl st + sc. Continue to crochet 2 motifs together through the loops with a sl st + sc. Fasten off.

Do not attach top motif of neck through loops. Instead, crochet as follows. Attach yarn at base of motif with a sl st. Crochet up motif to make top part of neck as follows: 4 htr, 3 tr, crochet 3 dc in last tr made, dc in sts until next corner. Crochet 3-ch picot in last st. Sc back to base of motif . Fasten off. Fold back and sl st 3-ch picot to next motif of the neck. This will create a chunky looking neck.
