How to get fabric inside a shape in Procreate

I make Wacky Fashion Using Clipping Mask Technique On Procreate.
Below is a playlist of what I have been making. The below tutorial is how I did it.
In Procreate, the Clipping Mask technique is a non-destructive way to confine a layer’s content (such as a texture, pattern, or drawing) to the boundaries of the layer below it. This is particularly useful when you want to add textures, colors, or patterns to specific shapes without affecting other parts of your artwork.
How Clipping Mask Works:

- A Clipping Mask only affects the area that has content (pixels) in the layer directly below it. This means that any transparent areas on the base layer will remain transparent on the clipped layer.
- Think of it like “clipping” one layer to the shape of the layer beneath it, so that everything on the top layer only shows up where there is content on the bottom layer.
Steps to Use Clipping Mask in Procreate:
- Create a Shape or Base Layer:
- First, you need a base layer that has content (e.g., a shape, text, or drawing). This will act as the mask that the top layer will conform to.
- Add the Layer You Want to Clip:
- Create or import the content (such as a texture, color, or pattern) that you want to restrict to the base shape. This will be placed on a layer above the base layer.
- Apply Clipping Mask:
- Tap on the layer with the content (the top layer).
- From the pop-up menu, select Clipping Mask.
- The top layer will now be “clipped” to the content of the base layer. Anything outside of the base layer’s content will become invisible on the clipped layer.
Practical Examples:
- Texturing Shapes: If you want to add a fabric texture to a shape (like a circle), you can place the texture on a layer above the shape and use a clipping mask. The texture will only appear within the boundaries of the circle.
- Coloring Line Art: You can use a clipping mask to color inside line art. The color will stay within the boundaries of the base layer, ensuring clean and precise coloring.
Why Use Clipping Masks?
- Non-Destructive: You can always adjust or remove the clipping mask without altering the original base layer.
- Flexibility: You can easily modify the top layer’s content (resize, recolor, transform) without affecting the base layer.
- Efficient Workflow: It allows for easy experimentation with different textures and effects within defined areas, speeding up the design process.
Clipping masks are an essential tool in Procreate for adding texture and detail to specific parts of your artwork without affecting the whole canvas!
