Crochet Irish Flower ~ Free Pattern

This pattern uses the Old Irish Fifth Wheel motif in a modern way. :) I did the same with the Irish Fern pattern here.

In this pattern, I crochet over the cord. This is a common Irish Crochet Technique. You can learn more here.

Crochet Materials:

Crochet hook 5.0 mm and 4.00 mm.

Yarn: 100 % Acrylic in yellow, dark pink, light pink, light blue, Moda Vera Flurry Yarn, and Moda Vera Fayette Yarn multicolor.

Crochet Flower Pattern ~ Step by Step free pattern

This is an Irish Crochet Wheel with a Modern Twist. This is the pattern of the traditional Fifth Wheel Irish Crochet.

This pattern uses US stitch abbreviation.

Use 100 % Acrylic yarn and Moda Vera Fayette Yarn multicolor. Use crochet hook size 5.0 mm

Begin by using Yellow yarn.

Round 1. Over a single cord foundation crochet: 1 sc + 1 hdc + 3 dc + 1 hdc + 1 sc, (1 sc over the cord foundation on the 4th sc of the ring) x 5.

Round 2. *Over a single cord foundation crochet 1 sc on the 2nd of the 3 empty sc stitches of the ring and behind the little leaves of the 1st row, 17 sc over a single cord*, repeat between ** 5 times, end with 1 sl st in the 1st sc on the ring, 4 sl st on the first 4 sc of the first 17 chain scallop.

Round 3. *Ch 4 (at the repeats make 1 dc instead of ch 3), (1 dc + 1 ch)x 9, sk 7 sc*, repeat between ** 5 times, 1 sl st in 3rd ch, ch 1.

Change yarn to Moda Vera Fayette Yarn multicolor.

Round 4. *In each dc and ch sp crochet: 4 sc + 1 picot + 4 sc + 1 picot + 4 sc + 1 picot + 4 sc + 1 picot  *, repeat between ** all around, finish with a sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

Use light pink yarn.

Ch 2, turn, 12 sc in 3rd ch from hook, sl st in ch 2.

Round 2. 17 hdc over 12 sc, sl st in 1st hdc.

Round 3. 21 dc over the 17 hdc.

Crochet nose

Use dark pink yarn.

Crochet over a single cord: 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc. Fasten off. Use a sewing needle and stitch into a ball. Attach to middle of face.

Attach the face of the flower in the middle of the Irish flower.

Attach doll eyes.

Crochet eyelids

Use light blue yarn.

Row 1. 5 sc over a cord, turn.

Row 2. 1 sc in each sc to end. turn.

Row 3. 1 sl st in each sc to end. Turn.

Stitch over the doll eyes.

Stalk

Use a stick.

Use pink yarn and 4.00 mm hook.

Crochet a chain of single crochet the length of the stick until you it can wrap around a stick. Use a sewing needle and stitch together.

Crochet Leaves

Make 3.

Use Moday Vera Flurry Yarn. Use crochet hook 4.00 mm.

Crochet 3 x hdc over the cord.

Attach to stalk.
