Free Crochet Kangaroo Amigurumi Pattern

I made a lot of mess making this crochet kangaroo. :D I was worth it though. I enjoyed every second of it. It is very furry and crazy looking. I use a lot of different yarn. All of it was scrap yarn I had laying around. 

Crochet Materials

Yarn: 100 % Acrylic 4 ply in Purple, White, Red, and Black. Fluffy yarn in Dark Blue, Light Blue, and Orange. 

Crochet hook size 3.00 mm and 1.9 mm. 

Scissors. 

Sewing needle.

Craft Stuffing. 

How to Crochet Kangaroo step by step

Crochet body, legs, arms, hands, head, ears, and tail using Purple Yarn. Crochet eyes and teeth using white yarn. 

Crochet around legs and body using fluffy dark blue yarn. Crochet around arms and tail using fluffy light blue yarn. 

Crochet Body

Make 2 and stitch the 2 motifs together with stuffing inside. 

Row 1. Ch 19, turn, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each sc to end. Turn.

Row 2. 2 sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in each sc to last sc, 2 sc in last sc. Turn.

Row 3. 1 sc in each sc to end. Turn.

Row 4. Rep row 2.

Row 5. Rep row 3.

Row 6-14. Repeat row 2 and 3.

Row 15-29. 1 sc in sc to end. Turn.

Row 30. Sl st in next 3 sc, 1 sc in remaining sc. Turn.

Row 31. 1 sc in each sc to end (do not crochet in slip stitch). Turn.

Row 32. Sl st in next 1 sc, 1 sc in every sc to end. Turn.

Row 33. 1 sc in each sc to end (do not crochet in slip stitch). Turn.

Row 34. Rep row 32.

Row 35.  1 sc in each sc to end. Turn.

Row 36. Sl st in next 2 sc, 1 sc in sc to last 2 sc. Turn.

Row 37. Sl st in next 2 sc, 1 sc in sc to last 3 sc. Turn.

Row 38. Sl st in next 2 sc, 1 sc in sc to last 2 sc. Turn.

Row 39. 1 sc in sc to last 2 sc. Turn.

Row 40. Sl st in next 2 sc, 1 sc in sc until last 2 sc. Turn.

Row 41. 1 sc in sc to last 2 sc. Turn.

Row 42. Sl st in next 1 sc, 1 sc in sc until last 2 sc. Turn.

Row 43. Sl st in next 1 sc, 1 sc in sc to end. Fasten off.

Attach blue feathery yarn and crochet around the edge.

Crochet Head

Row 1. Ch 22, turn, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch to end. Turn. 

Row 2 -19. Sc in sc to end. Turn. 

Row 20. (2 sc tog) x 2, sc in sc to the end. Turn.

Row 21. Sc in sc to end. Turn. 

Row 22. (2 sc tog) x 2, sc in sc to last 2 sc, 2 sc tog. Turn. 

Row 23. Sc in sc to end. Turn. 

Row 24. 2 sc tog, sc in sc to last 2 sc, 2 sc tog. Turn. 

Row 25. Sc in sc to end. Turn. 

Row 26. Rep row 22. 

Row 27. Sc in sc to end. Turn. 

Row 28. Rep row 22. 

Row 29. Sc in sc to end. Turn. 

Row 30. Rep row 22. 

Row 31. Sc in sc to end. Turn. Fasten off. Weave in ends. 

Crochet long part of arms

Make 2. 

Round 1. Ch 6, turn, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch to end. Turn.

Round 2 -117. Sc in sc. Turn. 

Twirl around craft filling and stitch in place using a sewing needle. 

Crochet Top part of arms.

Make 4. Stitch 2 and 2 together with stuffing inside. 

Round 1. Ch 3, turn, 12 dc in 3rd ch from hook, sl st in ch 3. 

Round 2. Ch 2, *1 hdc in next 3 dc, 3 dc in next dc*, rep between ** all around, sl st in ch 2. 

Round 3. Ch 2, *1 hdc in 4 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc*, rep between ** all around. Sl st in ch 2. 

Round 4. Ch 2, hdc in same st as ch 2, *hdc in next hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc*, rep between ** to end, sl st in next hdc. Fasten off. 

Stitch 2 together around top of the end of the long arm. Fill in with craft filling. 

Crochet hands

Make 4 motifs and stitch 2 and 2 together with stuffing inside. 

Row 1. Ch 12, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in chs to end. Turn. 

Row 2. Sc in sc to end. Turn. 

Row 3. Sc in next 9 sc. Turn. 

Row 4. Sc in sc to end. Turn. 

Row 5. Sc in sc to end + ch 6. Turn. 

Row 6. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in remaining ch, sc in sc. Turn. 

Row 7. Sc in sc. Turn.

Row 8. Sl st in 7 sc, sc in sc. Turn. 

Row 9. Sc in 8 sc, ch 4. Turn. 

Row 10. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in remaining chs, sc in sc. Turn. 

Row 11. Sc in sc. Fasten off. 

Stitch 2 together and attach to the other end of long arm. Fill in craft filling. 

Stitch to below body below head. 

Kangaroo Ears

Make 4 motifs. Stitch 2 and 2 together and fill in stuffing.

Row 1. Ch 10, turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in every ch to end. Turn.

Row 2 – 13. Sc in sc to end. Turn.

Row 14. (2 sc tog) x 2, sc in remaining sc. Turn.

Row 15. Sc in sc to end. Turn.

Row 16. 2 sc tog across the row. Turn.

Row 17 – 20. Sc in each sc to end. Turn.

Row 21 – 22. Sc in 1st sc.

Kangaroo Tail

Make 2 motifs and stitch together with stuffing inside.

Row 1. Ch 7, turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in remaining sc. Turn.

Row 2 – 3. Sc in sc to end. Turn.

Row 4. 2 sc in 1st sc, sc in remaining sc until last sc, 2 sc in sc. Turn.

Row 5. *1 sc in sc, 2 sc in next sc*, rep between ** to end. Turn.

Row 6 – 22. Sc in every sc to end. Turn.

Row 23. (2 sc tog) x 2, sc in every sc to last 4 sc, (2 sc tog) x 2. Turn.

Row 24. Sc in sc to end. Turn.

Row 25. 2 sc tog across the road. Turn.

Row 26 – 28. Sc in sc to end. Turn and fasten off after row 28.

Kangaroo teeth

Use White yarn. Make 2. Ch 3, turn, sl st in ch 3. Stitch to kangaroo face. Use red yarn and stitch on mouth just above kangaroo teeth.

Kangaroo eyes

Use White yarn. Make 2. Ch 3, turn, 11 dc in 3rd ch from hook, sl st in ch 3. With purple yarn stitch around the edges of eyes. With black yarn, stitch pupils inside eyes. Stitch eye to Kangaroo head.
