Crochet Doll Pattern

This crochet doll follows in the tradition of crochet around a wire frame. Please see image below.

As you can see the doll is bendable and can sit upright on its own. Pretty cool, ey :D

I gave it some hair.

This is how it will look when it is all dressed up.

This is how you crochet the Doll.

You will need:

Crochet hook size 2.5 mm and 1.9 mm.

Yarn: White 100 % Cotton, Black 100 % Cotton, Pink Feather yarn, brown chunky yarn, green 100 % Acrylic yarn.

Doll hair.

Scissors.

Sewing needle.

Crochet Stitches Used

This pattern uses US stitch abbreviation.

Chains (ch)

Slip Stitch (sl st)

Single Crochet (sc)

Half double crochet (hdc)

Double Crochet (dc)

Crochet Doll Crochet Instructions

Begin with Crochet Doll head.

Use White yarn and crochet hook size 2.5

Round 1. Ch 2, turn, 9 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in 1st sc.

Round 2. Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat all the way around.

Round 3. Sc in each sc to end.

Round 4. 2 sc in each sc to end.

Round 5-6. Sc in each sc to end.

Round 7. Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc tog. Repeat to end.

Round 8+9. Sc in sc to end.

Round 10. Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next 4 sc, sc until last 6 sc, 2 sc in next 4 sc, sc in last 2 sc.

Round 11. Sc in sc to end.

Round 12. Sc in next 3 sc, (2 sc tog) x 2, sc until last 7 sc, (2 sc tog) x 2, sc in next 2 sc, 3 sc in last sc.

Round 13. Sc in sc to end.

Round 14. Sc in sc, 2 sc tog. Repeat to end.

Round 15. Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc together. Repeat to end.

Round 16. Sc in sc to end.

Round 17. 2 sc tog until hole is closed.

Attach wireframe as the picture below shows. Attach to head and begin crochet body as instructions describes.

Crochet body: Wrap white yarn all around the body.

Attach with sl st in yarn below head.

Crochet down neck: 3 sc around wire frame down the neck.

Crochet arms: Repeat each arm. 13 sc down arm (around the wire), turn. sl st back until you have 6 sc left on arm, sc in last 6 sc, turn, sc in 6 sc, turn, sc in 6 sc. Fasten off. Wrap work around arm and attach with sl st.

Crochet body: Sl st in wrapped yarn between arms on back of doll. 10 sc down body around wire frame, turn, 10 sc in sc up body, turn 10 sc in sc down body, turn, 10 sc up body, turn, sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next 4 sc. Now you have 14 sc. Turn, 14 sc down body, 14 sc up body. Fasten off. Fill in stuffing and wrap work around body. Attach with sl st.

Crochet legs: Repeat each leg. 9 sc down leg (around the wire), turn, 9 sc in sc up the leg, turn, 9 sc down sc down leg, turn, 9 sc up the leg, turn, 9 sc down leg, turn, sc in 8 sc, 2 sc in last sc, turn, 10 sc up 10 sc, turn, 10 sc down 10 sc. Fasten off.

Crochet hands:

Use crochet hook size 1.9 mm.

Crochet 2 (obviously). :)

Round 1. Ch 4, turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in chs until last ch, 5 sc in last ch, turn, sc in next 6 sc (creating beginnings of fingers), turn.

Round 2. (Ch 1, hdc in same sc as ch 1, ch 1, sl st in hdc, sl st in next sc) x 5, sc in sc on ‘arm’ until last sc, 4 sc in last sc, sl st in sc before fingers. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Crochet feets:

Use crochet hook size 1.9 mm

Make 4 motifs and stitch two and two together and fill in with stuffing.

Round 1. Ch 7, turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in chs to last chs, 5 sc in last ch (creating big toe). Turn.

Round 2. Sc in 5 sc of big toe, sc in next sc, ch 1, turn, sk 1 sc, sl st in next sc, turn, 2 sc in 1-ch sp, sl st in same sc as beg of 1-ch sp, ch 1, turn, sl st in next sc, turn, 1 sc in 1-ch sp, sl st in next sc, ch 1, sc in same st, sc in sc to last sc, 8 sc in last sc, sc in sc ‘other side’  to ‘toe’, sl st in 1st sc on ‘toe’.

(2 sc in next sc) x 2, sl st in next sc, *2 sc in next sc, sl st in next sc* x 3, turn, crochet across as follows, hdc in sc, sl st in sl st. Continue sl st foot closed all around. Fill in craft filling as you go.

When you have made two pieces attach the two pieces together with through sc with sl st in ‘big toe’. When you weave in ends, split the big toe into two by stitching yarn in the middle of the big toe. Reinforce the toes by splitting between the toes in the same way. Sl st foot to bottom of leg.

Crochet Doll Dress

This crochet doll looks all wrapped up and warm when the clothes are done. I use multicolored chunky or curly yarn in brownish colors. Use crochet hook size 2.5 mm.

Front.

Row 1. Ch 6, turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in 5 chs.

Row 2 – 11. Sc in sc.

Row 12. 2 sc in next 2 sc, sl st in next sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc. Fasten off.

Fold up last row and sl st with a sewing needle to round 11.

Back.

Row 1. Ch 6, turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in 5 chs.

Row 2 – 5. Sc in sc.

Row 6. Sc in sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep to end.

Row 7. Rep round 6.

Row 8-10. Sc in sc.

Row 11. (2 scs tog) x 2, sc in sc until last 4 scs, (2 scs tog) x 2.

Row 12-13. Sc in sc.

Fold up last row and sl st with a sewing needle to round 12.

Sides (crochet 2 pieces).

With feather yarn and crochet hook size 2.5 ch 13, turn sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in remaining chs. The sides are going to be longer than the front and back. Sl st to sides and let the left over sides dangle down the side.

Reattach feather yarn to bottom of dress and single crochet in each single crochet both front and back.

Sc black yarn around top of front and back.

Shoulder strap (crochet 2 pieces).

Use green yarn and crochet hook size 1.9

Round 1. Ch 4, turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in remaining sc to end.

Round 2-8. Sc in sc.

Round 9. Sl st in next sc, sc in next sc, sl st in next sc.

Round 10-13. Sc in 1 sc.

Crochet Sleeves (make 4 motifs)

Use brown chunky yarn and crochet hook size 2.5

Round 1. Ch 7, turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in remaining chs.

Round 2 – 3. Sc in sc.

Crochet trousers (make 4 motifs) 

Use crochet hook size 2.5 and chunky brown yarn.

Ch 5, turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in remaining ch.

Round 2-7 Sc in sc.

Sl st sides together around legs.

Use doll hair and sl st to head. I used curly brown and straight pink doll hair.

Crochet eyes:

Make 2. Use crochet hook size 1.9 mm.

Round 1. With black yarn: Ch 3, turn, sl st in 1st ch, fasten off and sl st into a ball with a sewing needle.

Use a sewing needle and white yarn around eye and white inside pupil.

Crochet nose: 

Use white yarn.

Use crochet hook size 1.9 mm.

Ch 2, turn, 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in 1st ch. Fasten off. Fold over and sl st edges together so it looks like a nose. Sl st to face.

Crochet fairy ears: 

Use white yarn.

Make 2. Use crochet hook 1.9 mm.

Round 1. Ch 5, turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in ch to last ch, in last ch crochet: 2 sc + 1 hdc + 1 dc, ch 1, turn.

Round 2. sc in every st to end, sl st in sc other side until you get to dc, sl st up dc, sl st on top of dc, ch 2, turn, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next sts to end of row. Fasten off.

Crochet mouth:

Sl st a string of pink yarn to face.
