Crochet Sea Stitch Tutorial

This pattern uses US stitch abbreviation. 

Sea stitch needs a multiple of 12 sts + 1, add 2 ch for the foundation chain. In this example, chain 15.

FR. Chain 15, 3-dc tog over 4th, 5th, and 6th ch from hook, *ch 1, [1 tr in next ch, ch  1] x 2, [1 tr, ch 1, 1 tr] in next ch, [ch 1, 1 tr in next ch] x 2, ch 1, 7 dc tog over next 7 ch*, repeat between ** to end, ending with 4 dc tog over the last 4 ch, turn. 2 sc in 4th ch from hook, ch 2, 2 sc in next st, *sk 2 ch, 2 sc in next ch, ch 2, 2 sc in next ch*, repeat between ** to last 2 ch, sk 1 ch, 1 sc in last ch. Turn.

Row 1. Ch 3, sk 1st group, 1 dc in 1 ch sp, *[1 dc in tr, 1 dc in 1 ch sp] x 5, 1 dc in next tr, 2 dc tog, insert hook into next 2 ch sps (sk top of group), repeat between ** to end, ending with 2 dc tog over last ch sp and top of last group. Turn. Row 2. Ch 3, [2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc], in each 2-ch sp, end with 1 sc in ch 3. Turn.

Row 2. Ch 3, sk top of group, 2-dc tog over the next 3 dc, *ch 1, [tr in next dc, ch 1] x 2, [1 tr, ch 1, 1 tr] in next dc, [1 ch, 1 tr in next dc] x 2, ch 1, 7 dc tog over next 7 sts*, repeat between ** to end, ending with 4 dc tog over the last 4 tr. Turn.

Repeat row 1 and 2.
