Once upon a time in the enchanting world of Woolington, there lived a unique and charming felted doll named Bramble. What set Bramble apart from the other dolls in Woolington was her striking resemblance to a badger. Her creators, skilled artisans in the art of felting, had meticulously crafted her soft, woolen exterior to capture the essence of the woodland creature.

Bramble’s body was a patchwork of rich browns and grays, mirroring the distinctive fur patterns of a badger. Her button-like eyes twinkled with mischievous curiosity, and a tiny, embroidered pink nose nestled between two fluffy ears. Her paws, fashioned from the finest felt, featured delicate claws that hinte

Living in a cozy cottage nestled between moss-covered trees, Bramble became a beloved companion to a child named Lucy. From the moment Lucy laid eyes on Bramble in the quaint toy shop, she felt an instant connection to the badger-like doll. Bramble, in turn, found a friend and confidante in Lucy.

Together, they embarked on countless adventures in the imaginary forests of Woolington. Bramble, with her badger-like agility, would lead Lucy through imaginary thickets and over make-believe streams. The other toys in Lucy’s collection often joined in their escapades, forming a close-knit community of playmates.

As the seasons changed in Woolington, so did Bramble’s adventures. In the warmth of spring, she would don a tiny flower crown and guide Lucy on quests to find magical blooms. During summer, she became the guardian of the miniature garden, ensuring that imaginary creatures didn’t disturb the tranquility of their make-believe world.

Autumn brought a new set of activities, with Bramble assisting Lucy in gathering felted acorns and leaves for their pretend woodland feast. When winter’s chill set in, Bramble transformed into a cozy companion, keeping Lucy warm with his fuzzy presence during imaginary snowball fights and sledding escapades.

Bramble, the felted badger doll, was more than just a toy to Lucy. She was a vessel of imagination, a conduit for creativity, and a steadfast friend. Together, they taught the inhabitants of Woolington the magic of make-believe and the enduring power of friendship, proving that even a felted badger doll could inspire the most enchanting tales in the whimsical world of childhood.

How I made Badgergurl

Badgergurl is a creation inspired by the Norse beliefs in having a fylgja. In my own fylgja vision quest, I discovered my fylgja is Badger. I thus made a doll who is half human, half badger. Or perhaps she is half fairy and half badger.

I crochet her dress and decorated it with tatted flowers. I also crochet her boots and decorated them with tatted flowers as well.

I began tatting a few years ago and it has transformed many of my crochet pieces.

Tatting has experienced a resurgence in popularity in recent years, as contemporary artisans and crafters rediscover the joy of creating these timeless lace designs. In addition to traditional patterns, modern tatters often experiment with colors, textures, and innovative techniques, breathing new life into this age-old art form.

Tatting to the decoration rescue

One of the defining features of tatting is the creation of picots, small loops or spaces between stitches, which contribute to the lace’s airy and intricate appearance. Tatters carefully control the tension of the thread to ensure uniformity in the loops and knots, resulting in a visually stunning piece of lacework.

Crochet amigurumi is the Japanese art of crafting small stuffed toys and figures using the techniques of amigurumi, which involves working in the round with single crochet stitches. Miniature crochet takes this art to a whole new level by creating pint-sized wonders, sometimes no larger than a few centimeters.

Miniature crochet amigurumi has a unique charm that is difficult to resist. The tiny size and intricate details make these creations irresistibly adorable, instantly invoking a sense of nostalgia and childlike wonder. These petite masterpieces are perfect for those looking to challenge their crochet skills and embark on a rewarding, meditative crafting journey.

Creating miniature crochet amigurumi requires a steady hand, good eyesight, and the right materials. Fine crochet hooks, usually in the range of 0.6mm to 2.0mm, are essential for working with delicate yarn or thread. High-quality cotton or mercerized cotton thread is often favored for its durability and smooth finish, allowing for easier manipulation of the tiny stitches.

Challenges of Amigurumi Miniature Crochet

Crafting at such a small scale presents unique challenges. The delicate nature of the materials requires a gentle touch and meticulous attention to detail. Counting stitches becomes a precise task, and patience is a virtue as completing even a small section can take much longer than larger projects. However, the rewards are immeasurable, as the sense of achievement and wonder at the finished creation is beyond compare.

One of the most captivating aspects of miniature crochet amigurumi is the limitless creative possibilities it offers. From tiny animals like kittens, bunnies, and hedgehogs to miniature food items, flowers, and even characters from beloved stories, the imagination knows no bounds in this miniature realm. Crafters can take inspiration from real-life objects, nature, or simply let their creativity run wild.

Apart from personal enjoyment and artistic expression, miniature crochet amigurumi also brings joy to others.

Are you ready to embark on a delightful journey into the realm of felted animals? These charming creations have captured the hearts of crafters and art enthusiasts alike. Felted animals are handmade treasures that combine the warmth and texture of wool with the imagination and skill of their creators. Whether you’re a seasoned artisan or a curious beginner, this craft is sure to captivate your creative spirit. I have always loved Badgers so the first animal I made, had to be a gentleman Badger in a suit.

Felted animals are made through a process called needle felting, which involves sculpting shapes out of wool fibers using a specialized barbed needle. The fibers interlock and fuse together, allowing the artist to shape and mold them into intricate and lifelike animal forms. From adorable little kittens and playful puppies to majestic lions and graceful birds, the possibilities are endless.

One of the most enchanting aspects of felting animals is the ability to bring them to life with your own hands. Each sculpture is a unique work of art, infused with the artist’s personal touch and creativity. The process encourages a deep connection between the creator and their creation, fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment when the final piece takes shape.

The details are always very important to me. This badger has a crochet suit with a craft clock and flowers.

Needle Felt Materials Required.

The materials required for felting animals are delightfully simple. All you need is some high-quality wool roving or batting, a felting needle, a foam pad or surface, and your imagination. The wool comes in a myriad of colors, allowing you to craft animals in their natural shades or experiment with vibrant hues and patterns. The felting needle, with its tiny barbs, is the magical tool that transforms loose fibers into a solid sculpture.

To begin your felting journey, start by shaping a core using basic shapes like balls or cylinders. These serve as the foundation for your animal’s body. Then, using small tufts of wool, begin adding layers to build up the desired shape and texture. The felting needle is used to repeatedly poke and stab the wool, tangling the fibers together until they become firm and hold their shape.

Refining your Felting Skills take Practise and Patience ~ And a whole lotta love

As you refine your skills, you can add intricate details to your felted animals, such as facial features, fur texture, or even tiny accessories like bows or collars. The artistry lies in the balance between simplicity and realism, capturing the essence of the animal while retaining the charm of the handmade process.

Felted animals make wonderful gifts and can bring a touch of whimsy and wonder to any space. They can be displayed on shelves, used as decorative ornaments, or even incorporated into storytelling or imaginative play. These tactile creations have a special allure that draws people in and sparks a sense of joy and nostalgia.

The world of felted animals craft is a delightful escape into a world of imagination and creativity. It offers a chance to slow down, connect with nature, and create something truly magical with your own hands. So why not give it a try? Gather your materials, let your imagination roam free, and bring your own fuzzy companions to life. Happy felting! 🦊🐰🐻

My first ever felted project was this DOLL of ABSOLUTE Innocence.

How to crochet barbie outfits

Crocheting Barbie outfits are easy, but you will ahve to use a very small hook and quite fine yarn. I use 100 % cotton and 1.9 mm yarn.

In this post, I gave Elsa a remake. I also made her a wig. In a previous barbie makeover, I stitched yarn directly to the barbie head (see image below), but this time, I made a wig using doll hair.

This crochet Mermaid is made in a very peculiur manner. Instead of crocheting rows and rounds, I crochet a chainless single crochet cord. The chainless single crochet cord was shaped into the different Mermaid parts and stitched together using a sewing needle. The head, arms, and torso was made this way. The Mermaid tail was created by stitching together yarn that was already folded into loops. This type of yarn is called Loopy Yarn.

Crochet Materials

Crochet hook size 2.0

Crochet yarn: 100 % Acrylic 4 ply in light pink(body), red (hairband and mouth), black (eye), yellow, green (for the bikini), and white(eye). Loopy Yarn for Mermaid tail.

Sewing needle

Scissors

Crochet Mermaid Step by Step.

Begin creating a Chainless SC cord and turn it into a round ball as the image below shows. Create another Chainless SC cord (about 15 scs long) and at the end crochet fingers as follows: ch 2, turn and sl st in last sc, ch 2, turn, and sl st in same sc). Make 2 arms. Crochet torso by folding a long Chainless SC cord into half. Crochet breast by folding a shorter cord the same way. Fasten the cords into place using a sewing needle. Stitch the body parts together.

When you crochet nose, you simple crochet: ch 2, turn, sl st in 2nd ch from hook. Use a sewing needle and stitch it into a ball and attach it to face using sewing needle. Stitch the eyes by creating the eyeball the same way you made the nose. Stitch on black using a sewing needle. Stitch on eyelids. Stitch on a mouth.

Attach hair the same way you would tassels.

This pattern uses US stitch abbreviation.

Crochet Polish Star Pattern is an advanced pattern, due to the weaving of the chain loops to create the Star shapes. The weaving technique will be shown in a video. Follow what I am doing in the video, and you will get through it. Begin in the middle and fold the loops over eachother by folding the right loop over the left loop. You will also pull the below loops unto the loops above. There is no way of writing a satisfying description how to Weave the loops together, only a video will do. This is how I learned this technique.

Free Giraffe Amigurumi Pattern

For some reason, I had this image in my head of a Giraffe wearing a tutu dress and pink booties! This meant of course that I had to make it into a reality. This pattern has been an ongoing project since Christmas and it is now July. For some reason, it took forever to finish. It is the biggest Amigurumi piece I have ever made. I think I will stick to smaller patterns for a while. I did love making it though, and I could finally use up the doll hair I had laying around. The curly doll hair is the icing of this cute giraffe. I also love the fake eyelashes. The head will need to be leaning on something to stay up as the long neck can’t stay upright on its own. The Giraffe is great as a decoration for your home, so give it a go.

If you like this pattern, please share on Pinterest and Social Media.

If you want to create a smaller crochet giraffe, then I have a few patterns for you that you might like. Both patterns below are miniature patterns. Click on images to get these patterns.
