What are the downside of Peonies?

How to do the bullion block stitch: 1 dc, yo and insert hook around dc, pull through yarn so you have 3 loops on hook, repeat 3 more times, yo and pull through all loops on hook, sl st in same st as ch 3. 

Bullion stitch: Wrap yarn over hook 7 times and insert hook into stitch, yarn over and pull through yarn, yarn over and pull through all loops on hooks, ch 1.

Make 2 motifs.

Ch 3, turn, 3 bullion stitch in 3rd ch from hook, turn, 1 sc in next 2 bullion stitches, continue crochet 2 ch sp: 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 dc. In dc just made, crochet 1 3-ch picot. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Motif 2:

Ch 3, turn, 2 bullion stitch in 3rd ch from hook, turn, 1 sc in next 2 bullion stitches, continue crochet 2 ch sp: 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 dc. In dc just made, crochet 1 3-ch picot. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Stitch the two motifs together so they make a heart-shaped. I used a sewing needle and stitched on eyes.

Crochet Flower Pattern ~ Step by Step free pattern

This is an Irish Crochet Wheel with a Modern Twist. This is the pattern of the traditional Fifth Wheel Irish Crochet.

This pattern uses US stitch abbreviation.

Use 100 % Acrylic yarn and Moda Vera Fayette Yarn multicolor. Use crochet hook size 5.0 mm

Begin by using Yellow yarn.

Round 1. Over a single cord foundation crochet: 1 sc + 1 hdc + 3 dc + 1 hdc + 1 sc, (1 sc over the cord foundation on the 4^th sc of the ring) x 5.

Round 2. *Over a single cord foundation crochet 1 sc on the 2^nd of the 3 empty sc stitches of the ring and behind the little leaves of the 1^st row, 17 sc over a single cord*, repeat between ** 5 times, end with 1 sl st in the 1^st sc on the ring, 4 sl st on the first 4 sc of the first 17 chain scallop.

Round 3. *Ch 4 (at the repeats make 1 dc instead of ch 3), (1 dc + 1 ch)x 9, sk 7 sc*, repeat between ** 5 times, 1 sl st in 3^rd ch, ch 1.

Change yarn to Moda Vera Fayette Yarn multicolor.

This pattern uses US stitch abbreviation.

In this pattern, you will use Broomstick Crochet Technique. I used my phone as a Broomstick to get large loops.

Step 1. Ch 50. Pull 1 loop through each chain around your cell phone.

Step 2. 5 loops tog with 5 sc, ch 5, repeat this to the end. Turn.

Step 3. Crochet as follows: *Sc + 3-ch picot in sc, sc in next sc, sc + 3-ch picot in sc, sc in next sc, sc + 3-ch picot in sc, 7 hdc in 5-ch sp*, repeat between ** to end.

Step 4. Fold middle together and crochet in middle scs tog with sc. Turn.

Step 5. *Sc in sc, sc + 3-ch picot in next sc*, repeat between ** to end. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Crochet Leaf Motif.

This crochet leaf motif can be used as a crochet motif in a dress, shirt, skirt, you name it.

This rose crochet pattern is made by making a string of smaller rose petals and then larger rose petals around the smaller ones.

The 3 ch picot is now at the tip of the rose petal. The openings will be stitched together after all the petals have been made. Make the next 3 petals as follows: in the next chs crochet: 1sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dtr, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, 3 ch picot in last sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dtr, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, sl st in 1st sc made. After making 4 petals slip stitch the roots of the petals together to make the petals align in a circle. Continue crochet 4 smaller petals as follows: 1sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, 3 ch picot in last sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, sl st in 1st sc made. When you have finished all the petals, stitch the opening in the middle together. Stitch all the petals together at the bottom of the petals to make the petals come together like a rose.

Make 4 larger petals and stitch around the inner petals you previously made. Make them as follows.

Large crochet rose petals

25 chainless single crochet, sl st in 1st sc, 1 hdc in every sc around.

Round 2. 1 hdc in next 8 hdc, 1 dc in next hdc, 1 tr in next hdc, (2 tr in next hdc) x 5, 1 tr in next hdc, 1 dc in next hdc, 1 hdc in next 8 hdc.

Round 3. 1 sc in next 12 sts, 3 ch picot, 1 sc to end. Fasten off.

Stitch the opening together using a sewing needle. Attach the 4 petals around the smaller petals.

Crochet rose stem

45 chainless single crochet.

Row 1-4. 1 sc in each sc to end. Stitch around a dowel using a sewing needle.

Crochet rose leaves.

Use a crochet hook size 1.9 mm to make 3 x small crochet petals. Use green fluffy yarn with a combination of acrylic and mohair.

15 chainless single crochet, sl st in 1st sc, 1 hdc in the next 5 sc, 1 dc in the next 2 sc, 1 tr in the next sc, 1 dc in the next 2 sc, 1 hdc in rest of scs. Fasten off. Use a sewing needle and stitch the opening together in the middle.

Use a crochet hook size 4.0 mm and the same yarn and make 2 x large crochet petals exactly the same way as the smaller rose petals were made. They will be bigger due to the use of a larger hook.

Stitch the leeves onto the stem.

Crochet Rose Broomstick Pattern

Crochet rose petal small.

Use red yarn. Chain 60, pull 60 loops on 24 mm broomstick knitting needle. Remove work off the broomstick. Fold in half. Pull 2 and 2 loops together on opposite side times 3 so that you have all up 6 loops together (3 per side). Secure with a slip stitch. 7 sc across 1st 6 loops together. Attach 6 more loops together with sl st. Crochet 3 sc +3-ch picot + 3 sc in loops. Repeat last 6 loops to end. Fasten off. Weave in ends. Fold the work together.

Rose stem.

Before you work outside rose petals, begin making the rose stem. It is a lot easier to attach the larger rose petals if you have attached the smaller rose petals already to the stem. Use a sushi stick or barbecue stick. To make it easier to attach the yarn, one trick that I use is that I first wrap some wire across the stick. The wrap brown yarn across the stick and keep secure under some wire. Stitch the rose petals to stem.

Crochet leaves (make 4)

Use green yarn and chain 3, pull 3 loops onto the broomstick. Remove from broomstick. 14 sc all around (if you can’t fit 14, that’s fine too). Make sure the single crochet stitches are evenly worked around the loops. Fasten off. When you weave in ends, stitch the opening together. Stitch leaves to stem.

Crochet large rose petals

Work outside rose petals as follows. Chain 30, pull 30 loops over a ruler. Remove work off the ruler. Fold in half. Start at the top where the fold is. Pull 2 loops each side together with a slip stitch + 3-ch picot + 6 sc. Continue as follows down the fold: Pull 1 loop each side together with a slip stitch + 3-ch picot + 6 sc. Crochet Flower Pattern

This pattern uses US stitch abbreviation. Set the heirloom on the 3rd smallest setting. Crochet 40 loops each side with single crochet stitches. Take the work off the loom and attach all 40 loops on one side with a slip stitch and a single crochet. On the other side, attach 4 loops with a slip stitch and a single crochet. Crochet a 4-ch picot and fasten off. Repeat the process nine more times until all 4 loops are worked the same way. Fasten off and weave in the loose ends. Leave the middle cords from the middle of the circle and crochet sc over the cord. This will be the flower stem. Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Crochet Leaves Patterns

With green yarn and crochet hook size 3.0 mm, ch 3. Loop the loop on the crochet hook onto the Broomstick knitting needle. Loop 2 more loops onto the broomstick through the chains. Use the crochet hook to loop the loops onto the broomstick. Remove the boomstick. Crochet all 3 loops together with 14 sc. Distribute the sc evenly around the loops. When you get back to the 1st sc, crochet 4 ch picot. Fasten off. Use a sewing needle and close the gap in the middle.

Crochet flower stigma

The flower stigma is made by using brown yarn and crochet hook size 1.9 mm. Chain 3, turn, 1 dc in 3rd chain from hook. Fasten off. Use a swing needle and stitch it into a button.

Crochet Rose Pattern Instructions

This pattern uses US stitch abbreviation.

Begin crochet rose petals. Crochet all up 9 rose petals.

Row 2. 2 hdc in dc, hdc in every dc until last dc, 2 hdc in last st. Turn. (15).

Rose stem. 

Use the barbecue stick as stem and attach it to rose. Secure with a sewing needle and brown yarn. Twist brown yarn around the barbecue stick until it is all covered. Fasten off.

Crochet Leaf. Make 4.

Row 1. With Green yarn, ch 3, turn, 12 dc in 3rd ch from hook. Turn. (13)

Row 2. 2 hdc in dc, hdc in every dc until last dc, 2 hdc in last st. Turn. (15).

Row 3. Hdc in next 6 hdc, 2 hdc in next 3 hdc, dc in next 6 hdc. Turn. (18).

Row 4. Crochet down and up row 3 with 4 sc, sl st in the middle, and 4 sc up the row.

Row 5. *3 ch-picot, sl st in next 2 sts*, repeat between ** across. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Attach leaves to stem using a sewing needle. Fasten off.

Crochet yarn: Botanica multicoloured. I use one with predominate blue colors and one with predominate yellow colours.

Crochet Instruction

Start by Broomstick Crochet.

With Multicolored Yellow yarn:

Ch 15, sl st in ch 1 to form ring. 15 loops on thick broomstick needle. Turn.

Round 1. (3 sc in 3-loops tog), ch 3, continue all around, sl st in 1st sc.

Round 2. Ch 1, sc in same st as sl st, 2 sc in each of next 2 sc, *ch 3, 1 sc in 3 ch sp, ch 3, 2 sc in each of next 3 sc*, rep between ** around, end with ch 3, 1 sc in 3 ch sp, ch 3, sl st in 1st sc.

Round 3. Pull loops on broomstick needle from scs only, all up 35 loops. Turn.

Round 4. (5 loops tog with 3 sc, ch 5) x 7, sl st in 1st sc. Fasten off. Reattach yarn with a sl st in next 3 ch sp round 2.

Round 5. *Long loops (8 cm) around broomstick needle in 3 ch sp (leave on broomstick), sc in sc between 3 ch sp*, continue between ** to end, sl st in sc between 3 ch sp. Fasten off. You now have 10 long loops. Hint: sl st in 3 ch sp before pulling loop on broomstick. 

Round 6. Reattach yarn with sl st in 2 long loops tog. (2 sc in 2 loops tog, ch 20) x 5, sl st in 1st sc.

Round 7. Sl st in next sc, sl st in 20 ch sp, ch 3 (acts as 1st dc), 11 dc, ch 12, 12 dc), crochet in remaining 20 ch sp: 12 dc, ch 12, 12 dc. End with sl st in 1st sc.

Round 8. Medium long loops (5 cm) around broomstick needle in every dc (not 12 ch sps), all up 120 loops. Hint: Do 60 loops first, and release the broomstick needle, do the next 60 loops the same way. Fasten off the yarn. Leave the loops unworked on and continue working on the hairpin crochet loom. (Hairpin and Heirloom crochet are the same thing).

With Multicolored Blue yarn:

Round 9. On the heirloom (3rd biggest heirloom settings): 120 loops each side, each loop with a sc.

Attach hairpin loops one side to 120 broomstick loops: *1 loop each motifs got with 1 sc, ch 1*, continue to end, sl st in 1st sc. Hairpin motif is now wrapped around the other motif.

With Multicolored Yellow yarn:

Round 10. Continue crochet other side of hairpin motif as follows: *4 loops tog with 4 sc, ch 8*, continue to end, end with ch 8, sl st in 1st sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Crochet cotton yarn, 10 ply, about 1140 yrds.

Crochet Leaves (make 5)

With Blue.

Leaf 1.

Round 2. Ch 2, turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of next 5 sc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in 3-ch sp, sc in each of 5 sc opposite side of leaf.

Round 3. *Ch 2, turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of next 6 sc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in 3-ch sp, sc in each of next 5 sc opposite side of leaf*, repeat between ** until you have 1 center point and 5 side points on side 1, end with ch 2 on 5th point on last side.

Round 4. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of next 6 sc, 2 sc in 3-ch sp, sl st in any sc on Round 6 of Rose, sc in lame 3 ch sp leaf, sl st in next sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Leaf 2-5.

Rep leaf 1 until you have 1 center point and 5 side points on side 1, end with ch 2 on 5th point last side, ch 2, sl st in point of previous leaf closest to flower. Turn. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of next 6 sc, 2 sc in ch-3 sp, sl st around next sc on round 6 of Rose, sc in 3-ch sp leaf, sl st in next sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

With Black yarn make a little 4+ch loop on tip of leaf 1 and 5. String yarn through to use as necklace. This pattern will also look good as wall and/or window decor.
