This Pinwheel crochet pattern uses US stitch abbreviation.

Row 1. Ch 8, sl st in ch 1 to form a ring, *ch 5, 1 sc in ring*, repeat between ** 3 more times, ch 2, 1 dc in sl st.

Row 2. Ch 1, 3 sc in some loop, *ch 6, 3 sc in loop*, repeat between ** 3 more times.

Row 3. *Ch 6, sk 1 sc in each of the last 2 sc, 3 sc in loop*, repeat between ** 4 times.

Row 4. *Ch 6, sk 1 sc, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc, 3 sc in loop*, repeat between ** 4 times.

Next 7 rounds. Continue crochet 6 ch loops, sk 1 sc at beg of each sc group and work 3 sc in each loop after sc group until you have 21 sc in each sc group.

Pinwheel Crochet Pattern Doily

The Crochet Pinwheel Doily has been published in Afghans and Doilies. The pattern in this book is a bit difficult to understand from row 13 onwards, so I have simplified it in the pattern above. Each row you increase each time you have to ch 6 and sc in loop as there is an increase in 6-ch loops each row. This way, the chain loops cover more and more of the outer edges until they cover all around the doily.

Crochet Small Wing.

Crochet Antennae.

Ch 8, yo, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, draw loop through, (yo, insert hook in same ch, yo and draw loop through) x 2, yo and draw through all loops on hook, sl st in each ch across, sl st in any sc on head*, repeat between ** once more, end with sl st in same sc on Head, sls t in next 4 sc on Head.

Crochet Body.

Crochet 7 more Butterflies. 

Make 7 more Butterflies using remaining colors.
DOT (Make 32 in assorted colors) … Ch 2, 10 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join and break off. Sew a Dot to each Wing of Butterfly. Sew Butterflies in place around Doily.

Crochet yarn: Botanica multicoloured. I use one with predominate blue colors and one with predominate yellow colours.

Crochet Instruction

Start by Broomstick Crochet.

With Multicolored Yellow yarn:

Ch 15, sl st in ch 1 to form ring. 15 loops on thick broomstick needle. Turn.

Round 1. (3 sc in 3-loops tog), ch 3, continue all around, sl st in 1st sc.

Round 2. Ch 1, sc in same st as sl st, 2 sc in each of next 2 sc, *ch 3, 1 sc in 3 ch sp, ch 3, 2 sc in each of next 3 sc*, rep between ** around, end with ch 3, 1 sc in 3 ch sp, ch 3, sl st in 1st sc.

Round 3. Pull loops on broomstick needle from scs only, all up 35 loops. Turn.

Round 4. (5 loops tog with 3 sc, ch 5) x 7, sl st in 1st sc. Fasten off. Reattach yarn with a sl st in next 3 ch sp round 2.

Round 5. *Long loops (8 cm) around broomstick needle in 3 ch sp (leave on broomstick), sc in sc between 3 ch sp*, continue between ** to end, sl st in sc between 3 ch sp. Fasten off. You now have 10 long loops. Hint: sl st in 3 ch sp before pulling loop on broomstick. 

Round 6. Reattach yarn with sl st in 2 long loops tog. (2 sc in 2 loops tog, ch 20) x 5, sl st in 1st sc.

Round 7. Sl st in next sc, sl st in 20 ch sp, ch 3 (acts as 1st dc), 11 dc, ch 12, 12 dc), crochet in remaining 20 ch sp: 12 dc, ch 12, 12 dc. End with sl st in 1st sc.

Round 8. Medium long loops (5 cm) around broomstick needle in every dc (not 12 ch sps), all up 120 loops. Hint: Do 60 loops first, and release the broomstick needle, do the next 60 loops the same way. Fasten off the yarn. Leave the loops unworked on and continue working on the hairpin crochet loom. (Hairpin and Heirloom crochet are the same thing).

With Multicolored Blue yarn:

Round 9. On the heirloom (3rd biggest heirloom settings): 120 loops each side, each loop with a sc.

Attach hairpin loops one side to 120 broomstick loops: *1 loop each motifs got with 1 sc, ch 1*, continue to end, sl st in 1st sc. Hairpin motif is now wrapped around the other motif.

With Multicolored Yellow yarn:

Round 10. Continue crochet other side of hairpin motif as follows: *4 loops tog with 4 sc, ch 8*, continue to end, end with ch 8, sl st in 1st sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Crochet hook size US 7.

Crochet cotton yarn, 10 ply, about 1140 yrds.

Filet Crochet Rose instructions

This crochet pattern uses US stitch abbreviation.

Ch 301. Ch 3 to turn which will count as first double crochet of first row. Dc in 5th chain from hook. Dc in next 2 chs to complete bottom right solid square of row 2. Continue following pattern first-row reading pattern right to left. After completing first row, ch 3 to turn to start next row. Continue following the pattern until row 100 is complete. To complete pattern, follow pattern diagrams below.

Approx Finished size: Using crochet cotton size 10: 23.0 inches wide and 25 inches tall.
