Here is some inspiration for the novice sewer who has scrap yarn to get rid of. Follow these easy step by step instructions.

Step 1. Cut a long string of your scrap yarn. Cut a square of a different type scrap yarn (in this case I used fluffy material) and cut into a square to become the snake head.

Step 2. With right side together, stitch edge of square to the long string of yarn. Then Fold the right side together and stitch the side to together.

Step 3. Fold the inside out. Stitch the head end together, but fold one side inwards to create shape of snake head.

The final step is to fill the snake with craft filling. It helps using a long stick or tube to get the filling through.

Use beads and sew on eyes. I also used a red elongated be a d as mouth. Use whatever leftover craft materials you have got and make your own stuffed animal snake. Have fun with this one. :) A perfect tutorial to do with kids.

Materials:

One Teracotta pot.

A hammer.

Soil mix.

Fairy house instructions step by step with pictures.

Punch out an opening in the front of the pot. Smash up the ceramics into smaller pieces, while leaving the remaining pot as is.

Fill the bottom up with soil. Create an ‘upstairs’ level with one of the ‘smashed up’ ceramics pieces.

Use the rocks to create steps. Fill in more soil, and decorate the rest of the inside with mosaic tiles (smashed up), glass pebbles, fake flowers, and succulents. You can also decorate it with branches found outside, and even leaves.

When you are finished, put the fairy house in a nice little spot for your fairies. :)

The best thing is, each fairy house will be different, with its own special characteristics.

How to grow Succulents.

Succulents needs watering every few weeks. They love Sun, and they should be planted in a well drained pot.

Growing Succulents in a cold climate.

Some succulents originates from cold climates, and are often referred to as hardy succulents. Find out more here. 

Take a wheel off an old bike (see what happened to the rest of the bike here) and spray paint it black. Decoupage a rectangular flower pot with images from a magazine, in this case, the Mad magazine. Use hooks and attach the flower pot to the wheel. Use bluetack on the wall to secure the wheel (as it might tip forward when the flower pot has items in it), and also lean the wheel on an angel so that it stays in one spot. Fill the flower pot with books and magazines. Congratulations, you have upcycled an old wheel, and given new life to an old flower pot.

All you need is a broken down bike, spray paints, flower pots, mask, hooks, gerberas, decoupage glue, paint brushes, and magazines (in this case Tattoo magazines and Mad).

First of all, decoupage some old flower pots. See how to do this here. Then take the front wheel off the bike as it will become an eccentric bookshelf. See what happened to the front wheel here. Spray paint the bike in green, red, and brown. Go nuts, and don’t hold back. It is a good idea to wear a mask while spray painting. Put Gerberas in the decoupaged pots. Use hooks and attach them to the bike. It is soooo easy….and sooo very cool. All your neighbours will be jealous of your stand out feature! :D

Spray paint white

Modge Podge glue or Decoupage glue

Decoupage Instructions

Spraypaint the flower pots white. Cut out some deadly looking Tattoo designs from a magazine, or print out from images found online. Glue images onto the flower pot. Optional: Wrap glad wrap on images to make wrinkles disappear, and smooth out bubbles. Remove glad wrap when wrinkles and bubbles are gone. With a paint brush put glue on images (only on images, not anywhere else). Wait until it dries. Optional: With a small paint sponge, paint the top edge of the pots black. Spray with a varnish gloss. Now it is finished.

In this tutorial, you will learn how you can make a cute frog house for your garden.

A plastic bottle

Scissors

Glue

Grout

Craft rocks

Spray paint

Instructions

Cut a plastic bottle in half, and cut out the door.

Cover the surface with craft glue and decorate it with craft stones. Let it dry for a while, before you add grout.

Add grout to the surface, and stick more rocks into the grout.

With spray paint, spray white paint, making the house white all over. Spray red paint on top. Spray white in patches on top of the red again. Varnish to finish off the project. Let it dry.

This pattern creates a heart shaped crochet basket. I had 2 heart shaped motifs that came off my beach slippers and decided to use them in my next crochet project in the new ‘from trash to treasure’ series.

Make 2 identical.

Ch 4,

Row 1. 10 tr in 4th ch from hook. Turn.

Row 2. Ch 3, 1 tr in next 4 tr, 2 tr in next tr, 1 tr in next 5 tr. Turn.

Row 3. Ch 3, 2 tr in same st as ch 3, 3 tr in next st, *(3 tr in next tr)x 2, ch 3, sk 1 tr*, repeat between ** 3 times, turn.

Row 4. 1 dc in every sts across, 1 picot in 2nd ch of the 3rd 3-ch sp, turn.

Row 5. 2 dc tog across to end. Continue to crochet across the top of heart with 1 dc in 3 tr sps, 1 sl st in 4th ch from row between 1 (middle st) , 1 dc in 3 tr sps, turn.

Row 6. Sl st to sl st row 5, ch 4, sl st in sl st. Fasten off.
