Crochet Pony Amigurumi Pattern
This pattern is made in one go, not in separate parts. You fill in the stuffing as you go. The only thing you make separate is the pony’s ears.
Start by crochet head, then neck, then the body, then four legs in one go. The pattern will tell you when to fill in the stuffing.
Crochet Materials:
(I don’t have yarn brand as this pony is made out of my scrap yarn).
Crochet hook size 2.5
Crochet yarn: 100 % acrylic 8 ply in black, white, light blue and light green. Curly Yarn acrylic (for mane and tale).
Sewing needle.
You can also choose your own colors. Here is the same pattern but with blue hair.
Crochet Stitches
This pattern uses US stitch abbreviation.
Chains (ch).
Slip stitch (sl st)
Crochet Pony Pattern Instruction
This pattern uses US crochet stitches.
Crochet stitches used are chains (ch), single crochet (sc) and slip stitch (sl st)
Start crochet head.
With Pastel Blue.
Ch 6, sl st in 1st ch to form ring.
Round 1. 12 sc in ring, sl st in 1st sc. (12)
Round 2. Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc. (24)
Round 3 to round 6. Sc in sc. (24)
Round 7. 2 sc in first 8 sc, sc in remaining scs. (32)
Round 8 to round 10. Sc in sc. (32)
Round 11. Sc in first 16 sc, 2 sc in remaining 16 sc. (48).
Round 12 to round 14. Sc in sc. (48).
Round 15. (2 sc tog) x 8, sc in remaining sc. (40).
Round 16. Sc in sc. (40).
Round 17. (2 sc tog) x 8, sc in remaining sc. (32).
Round 18. Rep round 17. (24).
Round 19. Sc in sc. (24).
Round 20. Sc in 8 sc, 2 sc in 8 sc, sc in 8 sc. (32).
Round 21. (2 sts tog) x 4, sc in next 16 sc, (2 sc og) x 4. (24).
Round 22. (2 sts tog) x 2, sc in 16 sc, (2 sc tog) x 2. (20). Fill in stuffing.
Round 23. Sc in sc. (20).
Round 24. Sc in 6 sc, 2 sc in 8 sc, sc in 6 sc. (28).
Round 25. Sc in sc. (28).
Round 26. (2 sc tog) x 4, 2 sc in 10 sc, (2 sc tog) x 4. (30).
Round 27. Sc in 15 sc, sl st round middle sc round 13, sc in remaining 15 sc. (30).
Round 28 to round 34. Sc in sc. (30).
Round 35. (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) all the way around. (45).
Round 36. 2 sc in next 5 sc, sc in next 35 sc, 2 sc in last 5 sc. (55).
Round 37 to round 38. Sc in sc. (55).
Round 39. 2 sc in each 10 sc, sc in 35 sc, 2 sc in 10 sc. (75).
Round 40. Sc in sc. (75).
Round 41. Sc in 22 sc, (2 sc tog) x 15, sc in 22 sc, sl st in 1st sc, ch 1. (60).
Round 42 to round 45. Sc in sc. (60).
Round 46. (2 sc tog) x 5, sc in 40 sc, (2 sc tog) x 5. (50).
Round 47 to round 48. Sc in sc. (50).
Round 49. (2 sc tog) x 25. (25).
Start crochet legs.
Round 50. Sc in next 5 sc, sl st in 5th sc from end previous row creating 2 circles, continue crochet around 10-sc circle, (2 sc in 10 sc), sl st in next 2 sc of next circle, (2 sc in next 10 sc), st st back next scs back to first circle.
Round 51 to round 53. Sc in sc (40). Sl st through (10th last sc + 10 sc + 20th sc). Insert hook through sc in that order and connect all 4 scs with a sl st. Fasten off and connect pastel green yarn in same spot.
Round 54. Sc in sc (40).
Round 55 to round 58. 2 sc tog until hole is closed. End with sl st. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Crochet Pony Ears (make 2. )
With pastel green:
Ch 10 (foundation chain) ,
Row 1. 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 3 sc, 3 sc in next ch, sc in remaining 4 sc. (11)
Row 2 to row 3. Sc in each sc except middle sc in 3-sc group; crochet 3 sc in middle 3- sc group.
Row 4. Sl st to middle sc of 3-sc group, 3 sc in sc, sl st to end. Fasten off.
Fold in half. Sl st foundation ch together. The pointed end is top of ear. With a sewing needle stitch ears on head.
With black yarn and a sewing needle stitch the outline of the eye and eyelashes. With white yarn stitch the inside of the eye. See picture.
With curly green yarn make the mane and tale. Fold yarn pieces in half and attach with sl st.
